Quick Septic 101

So what exactly is this septic thing all about?

No worries – here’s the condensed skinny on septics.

• Most basic systems are comprised of two basic elements, the tank itself and the drain field.
• The main function of the septic tank is to intercept solids and prevent solids from getting into the field and clogging the field.
• The main function of the drain field is to disperse and treat the waste water.  Water flows into the field and as it passes through the soil it gets cleaned, eventually returning to the water table.
